THSSCA Soccer Hall of Fame
Requirements for Nominations 1. Coaching Tenure and Achievements •A minimum number of years coaching high school soccer (10–15 years varsity high school experience).Either 5 years retired or currently coaching with 20 years of varsity coaching experience. • Demonstrated success, such as a history of winning seasons, league championships, or state titles. 2. Impact on the Sport • Significant contributions to the growth and development of soccer at the high school level. • Promoting good sportsmanship, player development, and advancing the sport within their community. • The coach must demonstrate significant contributions to the sport beyond their win/loss record. This includes organizing soccer clinics, mentoring assistant coaches, or serving on high school athletic or soccer association boards (state or national). 3. Record of Excellence • A strong win-loss record and overall success in competition (must be above .500 career). • Coaching awards, such as "Coach of the Year" honors or similar recognitions. 4. Positive Influence on Players and Community • Evidence of mentorship and character building in players on and off the field. • Contribution to the community through outreach, involvement in youth programs, or organizing soccer-related events. Special Circumstance Nomination Categories Legacy Induction (Posthumous Consideration) – A coach who has passed away but made a significant impact on their players, program, and community may be considered for induction, even if they did not meet all standard criteria. Their nomination may be based on mentorship, leadership, and long-term influence on the sport. Excellence in Non-Traditional Circumstances – A coach working at a small school, in an under-resourced program, or in an area with limited competitive opportunities may still be considered if they have demonstrated exceptional coaching ability, player development, and program impact over an extended period. Factors such as total career wins, program growth, player success beyond high school, and overall influence on the sport will be taken into account. Pioneer or Builder Category – A coach who has played a pivotal role in developing high school soccer in their region—whether through advocacy, innovation, or program-building—may be considered for Hall of Fame induction even if their on-field accomplishments do not meet standard thresholds. |
